Funeral Arrangements

We have been making funeral arrangements for Scarborough and the surrounding area since 1927. There are many different elements and legal requirements involved in the process. We are here to help families and friends say goodbye to their loved ones in the best way for them.

How much does a funeral cost?

Every funeral is different depending on what, where and with whom. We are only too pleased to provide a quote upon request so please ask.

Do F.A. Stockill and Son offer good value for money?

Yes. As a family-run funeral service we provide a bespoke service at competitive prices. Unlike the national chains we don’t produce costly marketing material or have shareholders to answer to.

If you’re planning for your later life we offer pre-paid funeral plans.

What sort of things do you help arrange?

We are here to help with anything you need. Our knowledge of funeral arrangements in Scarborough, Pickering and Malton means we try to deliver any request. There are more details if you click the following links:

I’ve heard of something called disembursements. What are they?

Disembursements are the fees we pay before a funeral; on behalf of the family. These can include doctor’s fees, obituary costs, church fees and cremation fees. No surcharges are added.

Lyrics to Scarborough Fair, traditional English ballad

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine

Tell her to make me a cambric shirt
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Without no seam nor needlework
Then she’ll be a true love of mine

Tell her to find me an acre of land
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Between the salt water and the sea strand
Then she’ll be a true love of mine

Tell her to reap it in a sickle of leather
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
And to gather it all in a bunch of heather
Then she’ll be a true love of mine
